Our photo shows everyone who braved the cold to attend our recent tree planting event on Havelock Street. We were celebrating winning a community award from the Woodland Trust’s Street Tree Campaign by planting the last few trees on Havelock Street to finish off the creation of an avenue of over 70 ornamental crab apples (Malus ‘Rudolf’).
This was made possible by generous grants from Argyll and Bute Council’s Sustainable Community Initiative’s Fund and Waitrose as well as HTCT members subscriptions.
We were also celebrating the receipt of a grant of £5000 from the Woodland Trust to help with the care and maintenance of street trees within the town. Particular thanks to Liz Grant for the hot chocolate and scones and jam after the planting!
